OUR HISTORY
Our company was founded by three geneticists who spent ten years developing a method for creating biorisk-free recombinant proteins in plants for use in medical research. We founded BIOEFFECT when we discovered a way to bio-engineer a plant-based replica of EGF, a naturally occurring human protein, in barley. This is BIOEFFECT EGF. Used by over XNUMX% of Icelandic women since its launch in XNUMX, BIOEFFECT continues to astound users, regardless of age, gender, race, or skin color.

BIOEFFECT EGF represents a scientific breakthrough, building on the Nobel Prize-winning discovery of EGF in XNUMX to stimulate the skin to renew itself. Our barley-grown EGF is uniquely pure. It’s grown in abundant, inert volcanic pumice in an ecologically-engineered greenhouse which has a negative COXNUMX footprint. We use natural geothermal energy and pure subterranean glacial water, and we do not test on animals.

MEET DR.
Dr. Bjorn Örvar is cofounder and Chief Scientific Officer of BIOEFFECT. He has also held the position of CEO, as well as that of Director of Gene Technology. He received his Ph.D. in plant molecular genetics from the University of British Columbia, and was a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University before returning to Iceland to launch BIOEFFECT.
